Cullerton Group has a new opportunity for a Design Engineer 2. The work will be done onsite in Mossville, IL. This is a 12-month position that can lead to permanent employment with our client. Compensation is up to $41.00/hour + full benefits (vision, dental, health insurance, 401k, and holiday pay).
Job SummaryWe are seeking a Design Engineer 2 to support the design, development, and implementation of new cooling system components and technologies for Caterpillar. This role is responsible for creating and modifying cooling system designs, developing production-ready products, coordinating prototype builds and testing, and collaborating with cross-functional engineering, suppliers, and customers throughout the product development lifecycle. The ideal candidate has strong Creo CAD experience, a solid understanding of cooling systems and GD&T, and the ability to manage multiple engineering projects while working independently and as part of a collaborative team.
Key Responsibilities- Design, develop, and implement new cooling system components, products, and technologies.
- Create and modify 3D models and engineering designs using Creo CAD.
- Coordinate prototype builds, testing, validation, and analysis activities.
- Collaborate with customers and cross-functional engineering teams to develop production-ready products.
- Develop functional requirements and detailed design documentation.
- Support supplier development, supplier performance, and buy-build analysis.
- Prepare technical reports, cost estimates, and engineering proposals.
- Review project requirements and estimate project scope, timelines, and effort.
- Troubleshoot design issues and implement engineering improvements throughout the product lifecycle.
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related engineering discipline.
- 3–4 years of mechanical design engineering experience.
- Strong experience designing cooling systems and related components.
- Proficiency with Creo CAD, including 3D modeling, drafting, and drawing creation.
- Strong understanding of Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing (GD&T).
- Experience creating specifications, engineering drawings, and reusable design components.
- Excellent communication, problem-solving, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and work independently.
- Experience with Teamcenter and engineering release processes.
- Knowledge of thermodynamics, thermal simulation, and structural analysis.
- Experience supporting product development from customer requirements through production.
- Previous experience working with suppliers and cross-functional engineering teams.
- Self-management skills with the ability to prioritize multiple concurrent projects.
