The Traffic Signal Systems Engineer (Civil Engineer IV) position with the Illinois Department of Transportation provides expertise for the safe and efficient operation of interconnected traffic signal systems, highway lighting systems, and Intelligent Transportation System (ITS) infrastructure in the Peoria district. The role involves developing traffic signal timing plans, reviewing consultant work, coordinating with railroads and federal agencies, and ensuring compliance with departmental safety practices.
This is a union position based in Peoria, Illinois, working Monday-Friday, 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM.
- Current registration as a Licensed Professional Engineer or Licensed Structural Engineer in Illinois
- Four years of experience in civil engineering
- One year of experience in traffic signal design or operations (preferred)
- Working knowledge of traffic signal and highway lighting design and operations
- Valid driver's license and ability to travel district wide
- Strong oral and written communication skills
