This is a Civil Engineer Intern position with the Illinois Department of Transportation, District 1 in Schaumburg, where interns perform supportive engineering tasks related to transportation infrastructure investigation, planning, design, construction, operation, and maintenance. The internship lasts 6-60 months and is designed for students pursuing a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering, with the potential for permanent employment as a Civil Engineer Trainee upon successful completion.
Keyqualifications:
- Current enrollment in a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering (BSCE) program at an ABET accredited university or college
- Completion of at least 30 credit hours of post-secondary education prior to internship start
- Valid driver's license
- Minimum 2.0 cumulative GPA (on a 4.0 scale) throughout internship
- Ability to work minimum 10 hours per week during fall/spring semester and during summer breaks
- Coursework in mathematics through trigonometry (preferred)
