Event Manager / Planner
General Summary of Duties
Responsible for the creation, execution and supervision of all promotions; entertainment and direct mail programs as assigned. Must feel comfortable speaking on a microphone during special events; and other duties as assigned by management.
Typical Physical/Mental DemandsRequires prolonged sitting or standing; requires eye/hand coordination and manual dexterity; ability to distinguish letters and symbols; work accurately with basic and intermediate math; ability to use basic office equipment (computer, telephone, copier and fax); requires normal vision and hearing range; ability to communicate directly, telephonically, and electronically with guests, general public, management and staff in English; understands and complies with all company and departmental policies and procedures, job description and other instructions.
TypicalWorking Conditions
Work is performed in an office environment; extensive contact with vendors, guests, management, and co-workers; ability to tolerate varying conditions of noise level, temperature, illumination and air quality.
Example of Duties- Understand and adhere to all Grand Victoria Casino and Marketing Department standards, policies and procedures.
- Obtain a strong understanding of the Internal Control Systems (ICS) and Minimum Internal Control Standards (MICS).
- Ability to maintain and comply with Grand Victoria Casino’s Family Style Service Standards.
- Assist in creation and execution of marketing promotions.
- Composing promotional submissions to the Illinois Gaming Board;
- Execute promotions, giveaways, drawings and VIP events.
- Run reports and submit expenses for each promotion.
- Monitor and maintain all Grand Victoria Social media channels.
- Must feel comfortable in group settings and speaking on a microphone during special events, drawings or promotions.
- Perform the duties and responsibilities associated with the Illinois Gaming Board Statewide Voluntary Exclusion Program.
- Perform special projects as assigned by the Marketing management.
- Perform all tasks that may be assigned in the future.
Ability to read, write and speak in English; working knowledge and proficiency with Microsoft Office products; display a high level of confidentiality and integrity at all times; capacity to work well with others and handle stressful situations with ease; must be outgoing, entertaining and comfortable speaking to large crowds; possess effective listening skills; basic and intermediate math skills; establish and maintain a good relationship with the Illinois Gaming Board (IGB), as well as management and co-workers;
must have organizational skills and the ability to multi-task; have the ability to work in a stressful, high volume, energetic atmosphere; possess analytical thinking, coupled with open mindedness, working knowledge and skills of position under supervision; to assess situations to make decisions to resolve outstanding issues; ability to work flexible shifts.
Bachelor’s degree in related field or similar related work experience preferred;
One to 3 years marketing, promotions or event planning and execution of those events is strongly preferred.
Level 3 Occupational License with Illinois Gaming Board.
Salary Range$21 per hour
