POSITION OVERVIEW
Greets and assists patrons attending events or performances in a 1,200 seat theatre and an 11,340 square foot exhibition hall. Supports the Patron Relations Supervisor as directed.
Part Time Ushers are scheduled on a per event basis, and must be available to work during matinee, evening, and weekend performances. Hours of work will vary based on performance schedules and business need.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Individuals in the role of a Part Time Usher are required to perform the following duties:
- Greet patrons attending events presented at The Hemmens Cultural Center.
- Assist patrons with mobility devices, and those requiring seating assistance within the facility.
- Provide accurate information about an event or venue upon request, including directions within and outside of the facility, and other venues or attractions in downtown Elgin.
- Ensure performance house rules, such as entry, exit, late seating, photography etc. are adhered to, and maintain access control to performance areas.
- Notify supervisory staff and/or security staff of any emergency situations immediately as they occur.
- Exemplify guest excellence characteristics in all interactions with patrons, guests, and fellow co-workers.
- Assist Patron Relations Supervisor with coordinating schedules and recruitment of volunteer ushers.
- Assist Patron Relations Supervisor with updating of event information in displays in the facility and throughout downtown Elgin and at area businesses.
- Proven, positive and successful customer service experience.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- Ability to multi-task and problem solve in a fast-paced environment.
- Computer skills including proficiency in MS Office products is required.
- Able to work on weekends and/or weekdays as the scheduling needs dictate; schedule flexibility is an essential function of this position.
ADDITIONAL QUALIFICATIONS:
Experience with ticketing systems and social media is a plus.
State of Illinois BASSET certification preferred.
