Financial Manager, CFO
Job Description
This role involves overseeing all aspects of finance, accounting, and reporting activities. The ideal candidate will have manufacturing experience and a hands‑on approach to managing the finance team while driving process improvements. The Controller will play a key leadership role in shaping the company’s culture and strategic direction by collaborating with senior leadership and providing insightful market analysis.
ResponsibilitiesOverseeing All Financial
Activities:
Ensure compliance with GAAP standards and regulatory requirements by managing all accounts, ledgers, and reporting systems.General Ledger Management: Take ownership of the general ledger, including managing monthly financial close, expense accruals, reconciliations, journal entries, and preparation of related financial reports.
Financial Reporting and Analysis: Analyze financial data and present reports in a timely and accurate manner. Communicate monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements clearly.
Budget Preparation: Develop and prepare budgets by establishing schedules, consolidating financial data, analyzing information, and recommending plans.
Audit Coordination: Coordinate all audit activities with external accountants to ensure smooth and efficient audits.
Insurance and
Risk Management:
Interface with commercial insurance brokers for annual policy renewals and oversee the administration of insurance policies.Payroll and Benefits Administration: Partner with HR to manage payroll, benefits administration, and renewals.
Policy and Procedure Enhancement: Develop, implement, and enforce policies and procedures to improve overall operations and effectiveness, leveraging internal systems and technology.
Compliance and Reporting: Manage compliance with local, state, and federal government reporting requirements and tax filings.
Strategic Financial Leadership: Provide support and leadership in evaluating potential alliances, acquisitions, mergers, and investments, including due diligence, financial modeling, deal negotiation, and managing third‑party professionals.
Team Leadership: Lead and manage the finance team with a focus on accountability, demonstrating strong leadership and collaboration skills.
Educational Background: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance is required; CPA or MBA preferred.
Experience: 7-10 years of relevant financial and operational experience, preferably in a distribution and/or manufacturing environment.
Technical
Skills:
Proficiency in ERP systems (e.g., Microsoft NAV), fixed assets systems, and knowledge of COGNOS is a plus. Advanced skills in Word, Excel (including Macros, V‑lookups, Pivot Tables), and PowerPoint are required.Communication
Skills:
Strong interpersonal and communication skills with experience in presenting key data to senior management and outside partners.Innovation Ability: Demonstrated ability to innovate and enhance reporting processes.
