Position:Senior Tax Manager
As a Senior Tax Manager, you will lead and oversee all aspects of tax operations, special projects, and initiatives. You will help shape and execute our tax strategy, manage ASC 740 provisions, estimate cash taxes, oversee federal, state, and foreign tax compliance and audits, and provide mentorship to the tax team. You will prioritize risks, optimize resources, solve complex tax issues, and drive automation and process improvement.
Key Responsibilities- Lead and oversee preparation of quarterly and annual ASC 740 provision calculations using One Source Tax Provision and related SEC disclosures.
- Manage U.S. and Canadian tax compliance, including review and approval of all federal, state, franchise, sales and use, foreign tax returns and related work papers.
- Review estimated payment calculations for completeness, properness, and timeliness.
- Oversee maintenance of U.S. and Canadian tax balance‑sheet accounts, including deferred tax assets and liabilities.
- Define deliverables, set timelines, and manage multiple work streams.
- Collaborate with finance and other business teams to identify and resolve tax issues and support M&A due diligence.
- Ensure accurate and timely submission of all tax information to and from the tax team.
- Identify process enhancements, develop budgets and business cases, and lead implementation.
- Ensure adherence of tax operations and projects to department and organization policies.
- Contribute to the development and implementation of tax strategy.
- Address SOX compliance and audit requests promptly.
- Manage tax notices and negotiate tax audits.
- Monitor impacts of tax law changes and provide recommendations.
- Steer negotiations with external advisors, vendors, and customers.
- Build relationships and represent the tax department in cross‑functional initiatives.
- Provide informal mentorship and guidance to tax team members.
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business or Economics. CPA, IRS EA, or master’s in Taxation required.
- 8+ years in a Big 4 firm or a corporate tax department of a publicly traded company, focusing on ASC 740.
- Extensive knowledge of U.S. GAAP and ASC 740.
- Strong U.S. income, franchise, and sales & use tax compliance experience.
- Experience solving complex tax accounting matters, including M&A transactions.
- Preferred: experience with U.S. international, Canadian cross‑border, and foreign taxation.
- Experience managing tax authorities and resolving audits.
- Ability to plan and execute multiple projects, coordinate across teams, and meet tight deadlines.
- Passion for challenging the status quo, driving change, and fostering innovation.
- Track record of implementing tax systems, tools, and process improvements.
- Proficiency in One Source Tax Provision preferred.
- Strong attention to detail and independence.
- Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.
- Experience managing relationships with external auditors and advisors.
