Job description
B & F Construction Code Services, Inc. seeks a professional, motivated Building Inspector for our Elgin, IL office. This role combines office and field duties. We supply uniforms, personal protective equipment, a company vehicle for inspections, and a work phone. Standard hours are Monday through Friday, 7:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. We also provide paid training, study materials, and cover ICC exam fees per company policy.
For more information, visit The salary range is $80,000 to $100,000, depending on qualifications. Significant salary increases are available for obtaining ICC certification, in line with company policy.
Job Responsibilities- Perform commercial, industrial, and residential building, mechanical, electrical, and/or energy inspections.
- Serve as a mentor for other inspector/plans reviewers.
- May review construction plans for conformity to appropriate code(s).
- Perform code enforcement inspections.
- Communicate issues and deficiencies to the client and detail the options provided by the applicable code.
- Advise property owners, contractors, designers, and builders regarding code requirements.
- Provide municipal and private industry code research and reports as assigned.
- Attend project meetings about inspections, which may include plan review.
- Meet with clients and prospective clients as assigned.
- Work on special projects, which may include plan review as assigned.
- Attend meetings with clients, trade associations, and represent the company as assigned.
- Answer code questions and inquiries via email and over the telephone.
- Answer inquiries about inspections or plan reviews performed.
- Maintain applicable certifications by attending training sessions as assigned.
