Job Objectives

Provides pharmacy consulting services to customers regarding the effective usage of medications, awareness of drug interactions, and offering preventive healthcare services such as immunizations. Responsible for ensuring the proper compounding, dispensation, review, and verification of prescribed medications within regulatory guidelines, company policies, and procedures. Supports the efficient workflow of the pharmacy and assists the pharmacy manager in identifying ways to optimize pharmacy financials, inventory management, and enhance customer experience.

Job Responsibilities / Tasks Customer Experience
  • Engages customers and patients by greeting them and offering assistance with products and services. Resolves customer issues in a timely manner and answers questions to ensure a positive customer experience.
  • Models and shares customer service best practices with all team members to deliver a distinctive and delightful customer experience, including interpersonal habits (e.g., greeting, eye contact, courtesy) and Walgreens service traits (e.g., offering help proactively, identifying needs, servicing until satisfied).
  • Develops strong relationships with most valuable customers by anticipating needs and proactively offering services. Supports efforts to enhance customer experience by increasing focus on healthcare services, thereby promoting the shift of the pharmacy role from transactional to interpersonal.
Operations
  • Counsels patients and answers their questions regarding medication usage, side effects, interactions, contraindications, privacy, generics, less expensive alternatives, OTC products, and refers to medical providers as needed.
  • Performs pharmacist tasks including compounding, drug therapy reviews, verification, and medication management. Reviews, interprets, and accurately dispenses prescriptions when required by workload.
  • Ensures the pharmacy operates in accordance with regulations, company policies, and standards. Assists the pharmacy manager in establishing procedures that promote efficient workflow, including role assignment, activity coordination, and employee suggestion solicitation.
  • Responsible for opening, closing, and shift change duties.
  • Ensures Good Faith Dispensing policy compliance in conjunction with state and federal controlled substance laws.
  • Maintains current knowledge of pharmacy systems (Intercom Plus, registers, automation, StoreNET) and proposes enhancements to promote productivity.
  • Accurately processes insurance claims to resolve customer issues and prevent payment rejections, follows up with insurance companies and medical providers, and participates in third‑party audits.
  • Performs retail, clinical, and wellness services such as immunizations, flu shots, diabetes awareness, and other preventive healthcare services.
  • Assists the pharmacy manager in analyzing performance data including financial, customer service, and inventory management. Reviews KPIs with the Pharmacy Manager, Store Manager, and Healthcare Supervisor.
  • Builds and maintains relationships with local medical community members and participates in community outreach to promote the pharmacy business.
  • Partners with Central Pharmacy Operations for patient registration, third‑party reviews, and resolves customer issues to support Well Experience locations.
People & Performance Management
  • Assists the Pharmacy Manager with staff hiring and training, coaching, feedback, customer service monitoring, and fostering employee development.
  • Promotes teamwork, motivation, and a shared vision by establishing expectations, monitoring progress, and recognizing achievements.
Training & Personal Development
  • Maintains current knowledge and skills related to pharmacy and healthcare by reading journals, company publications, and communications.
  • Obtains necessary certifications, education credits, and training such as People Plus Learning modules as required.
  • Seeks professional development through performance monitoring, constructive feedback requests, and partnership with mentors.
Communications
  • Supports the Pharmacy Manager and Store Manager by communicating relevant corporate health and wellness information to pharmacy staff.
Basic Qualifications
  • Willingness to obtain a Doctor of Pharmacy (Pharm

    D) degree from an accredited institution prior to the start date.
  • Willingness to obtain pharmacist licensure in the districts within 90 days of hire per district guidelines.
  • Certified immunizer or willingness to become an immunizer within 90 days of hire.

Salary Range

PHIG – $33.50/hr – $45.30/hr
