Job SummaryThe Lab Pathologist Assistant provides anatomic pathology services under the direction and supervision of a Pathologist. Assists in the preparation and performance of human surgical specimen dissection. Assists in the preparation and performance of human postmortem examination with subsequent dissection, submission of samples, and dictation of gross findings.
Responsibilities- Preparation, gross description, and dissection of human tissue surgical specimens.
- Assisting with frozen section evaluation.
- Performing gross examination, selection of tissue.
- Cryotomy of specimen and subsequent staining for intraoperative evaluation by a Pathologist.
- Preparation and performance of human postmortem examinations.
- Preparation, gross description and dissection of human tissue surgical specimens.
- Preparation and performance of human postmortem examinations.
Required
Education:
- Completion of a Pathology Assistance Training Program
Required Certifications & Licensure
- Pathologist’s Assistant – American Society for Clinical Pathology
