  • Experience working in the acute care setting is required (minimum of one year); prior experience in an ED setting is a plus.
  • This full‑time position is 5 days/week and requires working a minimum of 2 weekend day shifts per month.
  • Position requires one summer and one winter holiday or weekend around a holiday; must work at least one of the six major holidays annually.
  • Prior experience with EPIC EMR is highly preferred but not required.
  • Must be flexible, reliable, collaborative, a self‑starter, and able to deliver high quality, compassionate, and empathetic patient care.

Pay Range: $41.10 - $61.65 per hour

$5,000 sign‑on bonus for full‑time hire.

Post requires Physical Therapy (PT) in Acute Care/Emergency settings.

Responsibilities

Interprets physician referrals, and performs musculoskeletal, neuromuscular, cardiopulmonary, and/or integumentary evaluations using appropriate methods.

Establishes a plan of care and implements individualized treatment based on evaluation results and functional goals, utilizing appropriate techniques. Monitors and evaluates outcomes and adjusts the plan accordingly; provides status updates to physicians and other team members.

Identifies factors affecting patient comfort and attends to psychosocial needs.

Plans and completes patient discharge, providing written home programs, patient/family teaching, community referrals, transition planning, and ordering equipment as indicated. Communicates and collaborates with stakeholders to achieve optimum care.

Completes all required documentation following department policy and accreditation standards, including patient evaluations, progress notes, team conference reports, and discharge summaries. Records patient care and progress of each patient assigned, and completes daily statistics, billing, and scheduling. Applies insurance guidelines regarding authorization and number of visits. Maintains site/department productivity standards and adheres to all billing and documentation policies.

Removes equipment and cleans up after each treatment; ensures the area is neat and orderly. Performs manual techniques, positioning, transfer, and transport duties requiring lifting, pushing, or pulling with proper technique. Demonstrates skill in modalities, exercise equipment, and other devices per orientation checklist, and knowledge of indications and contraindications.

Promotes patient safety by participating in safety initiatives and following infection control measures.

Participates in performance improvement activities to identify and solve problems affecting patient care outcomes and quality improvement. Manages caseload and informs site leadership of coverage needs.

Pursues professional growth through continuing education courses, in‑services, and professional literature. Orients new staff to clinical and department policies. Participates in coworker evaluation processes.

May supervise physical therapy assistants, respecting state and local compliance requirements, delegating patients, and providing direction and ongoing supervision while maintaining responsibility for patient plans. May supervise physical therapy extenders in administering treatments and teach appropriate techniques. May supervise physical therapy students after completing one year of clinical experience.

Minimum

Job Requirements Education

Doctorate degree in Physical Therapy from an accredited school, or educational requirements commensurate with graduation date. Maintains continuing education requirements per state professional standards.

Certification / Registration / License

Licensed Physical Therapist in the state of employment. Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers (obtained within 90 days unless waived by department leader), American Heart Association (AHA).

No prior experience required.
