Position: Occupational Therapist, Full Time "Float"

Job Description

Evaluates and treats patients using the principles and practices of occupational therapy and in accordance with the patient's age, developmental level and diagnosis. Collaborates with the interdisciplinary team.

With this position you will have an opportunity to evaluate patient in a variety of settings:
Outpatient clinic, Acute care and extended Care Unit. This position requires comfort with a variety of diagnoses and numerous interventions.

This position is Full-time, 8am-4:30pm with rotating weekends/Holidays

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Evaluates patients, establishes goals, and develops individualized treatment plans as prescribed by a licensed physician/practitioner.

Provides direct patient treatment based on current occupational therapy practice and revises treatment plan based on the patient's response.

Provides education to patient and family/caregiver regarding patient’s abilities and need for assistance and continued therapeutic intervention.

Recommends modification or changes in the patient's treatment program to the referring physician based on evaluation of progress. Confers as necessary with physicians concerning alternatives available.

Prepares written/computer documentation as required by the profession and the department, such as evaluation results, treatment plans, progress reports, and other such reports.

Participates in the interdisciplinary patient care conferences and rounds to ensure efficient coordination of the overall health care plan. Communicates with other professional staff and patient's family/support system to provide continuity of care.

Arranges work schedule to make efficient use of direct and non-direct patient care time. Provides weekend coverage according to guidelines of rotation/department.

Education and/or Experience

Bachelor’s degree is required, Master’s Degree is preferred
Candidates must be graduates from an approved School of Occupational Therapy
Current Illinois license in Occupational Therapy or License Eligible for new graduates.
