  • Performance of a comprehensive array of sophisticated non-invasive procedures demonstrating the appropriate anatomy of interest.
  • 1)
    Independently provides complete and accurate images for diagnostic purposes.
  • Documentation of patient history.
  • 3)
    Communicates “Wet Read” reports to physician offices.
  • 1)
    Records patient medical information.
  • 2)
    Explains the test procedures to the patient.
  • Ensures a secure and safe patient and work environment by maintaining a continued awareness of safety hazard labels.
  • 1)
    Complies with procedural standards in the care of our patient population.
  • 2)
    Assists with proper positioning of patients as necessary(protective measures).
  • 3)
    Cleans, prepares, and sanitizes all transducers according to manufacturer recommendations and established infection control standards.
  • 4)
    Applies sterile techniques and prevents cross contamination to patients and instruments.
  • 5)
    Maintains adequate supplies for the needs of the Ultrasound Department.
  • Provides technical support for smooth and efficient operation of the Ultrasound Department.
  • 1)
    Provides encounter forms for completed procedures which are ready for billing.
  • 2)
    Communicates with other departments to successfully schedule various exams for the patient.
  • 3)
    Interacts closely with the site Manager providing for a smooth daily operation of the department.
  • 4)
    Attends regularly scheduled department meetings and in-services.
  • 5)
    Helps in answering telephones and scheduling patients as needed.
  • Responsible for staying abreast with the latest ultrasound developments.
  • 1)
    Obtains membership in local, state, or national societies.
  • 2)
    Attends continuing education seminars.
  • 3)
    Maintains professional accreditation.
  • 4)
    Participates in CQI projects.

Licensure, Registration, And/or Certification Required
  • Medical Sonographer (RDMS) registration with Abdomen issued by the American Registry of Diagnostic Med Sonography (ARDMS) needs to be obtained within 3 months unless department leader has determined it is not required, and
  • Medical Sonographer (RDMS) registration with OB/GYN issued by the American Registry of Diagnostic Med Sonography (ARDMS) needs to be obtained within 3 months unless department leader has determined it is not required, and
  • Vascular Technologist (RVT) registration issued by the American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (ARDMS) needs to be obtained within 3 months unless department leader has determined it is not required, or
