PositionWe are hiring a full‑time Recovery Support Specialist to join our DuPage team.
SalaryThe average starting salary for this position will fall in the range of $42,000 and $46,000 annually. Salary is determined by skill and experience level.
Work Schedule- Monday: 12:00 PM – 8:00 PM
- Tuesday: 10:00 AM – 6:00 PM
- Thursday: 9:00 AM – 5:00 PM
- Friday: 9:00 AM – 5:00 PM
- Provides information to clients and family members on mental illness, recovery, wellness, treatment options, and resources.
- Assists clients and their supports in understanding the impact of mental health issues and achieving the best possible outcomes.
- Works collaboratively within a team to provide a full range of services, including mental health case management and related behavioral health and social determinants of health support.
- Spearheads community support interventions to facilitate illness self‑management, skill building, identification of natural supports, and use of community resources.
- Reviews client assessment results and supports completion of symptom checklists.
- Conducts outreach and engagement for clients who are not engaged in care or consistently miss appointments.
- Provides medication monitoring and/or training to clients.
- Participates in team meetings, huddles, and drop‑in service time available to the team’s clients.
- Co‑facilitates groups as requested.
- Assists the team in identifying strengths and needs of clients.
- Supports clients when transitioning to another level of care.
- Maintains awareness of community resources and works to ensure delivery maximizes available services.
- Prioritizes activities with the supervisor to optimize client service delivery and meet performance expectations.
- Recognizes when to request help to maintain their own wellness plan.
- Maximizes opportunities to expand knowledge and skills and applies techniques learned.
- Provides consultation to agency staff and the community, utilizing expertise in training, seminars, and special projects as requested.
- May serve on agency‑wide committees, work groups, or community committees as approved.
- Completes other duties as assigned.
- Peer/RSS must pass a State of Illinois background check as required by MFS policy.
- Ability to communicate effectively in both oral and written form.
- Ability to work effectively with diverse individuals and groups.
- Positive attitude and self‑motivation.
- Effective interpersonal skills.
- Demonstrated good judgment in advocating for the best interests of consumers served.
- Must have basic computer skills.
- High school diploma or GED required.
- Must be a consumer or parent/guardian/caregiver of a client who has successfully navigated the mental health system for themselves or a family member required.
- Bachelor’s Degree or Certified Recovery Support Specialist (CRSS)
preferred or attainable within six (6) months of hire. - Certified Alcohol and Drug Counselor (CADC) or experience working with clients experiencing substance use preferred.
- Pass all relevant screenings and criminal background checks.
- Driving for work required; transportation of clients preferred in a personally owned vehicle.
- Travel between sites not required.
