A leading institutional real estate investment and development platform is seeking a senior accounting leader to oversee financial operations, reporting, and accounting oversight across a complex mixed-use portfolio and development pipeline.
This individual will partner closely with senior leadership, operations, asset management, finance, and external stakeholders while leading a high-performing accounting team supporting sophisticated real estate structures and active development projects.
Key Responsibilities- Oversee all accounting, financial reporting, and administrative functions for assigned real estate assets, development projects, and ownership entities
- Partner cross-functionally with internal teams including finance, operations, transactions, asset management, and lease administration to support portfolio initiatives and strategic decisions
- Review and oversee treasury-related activities including cash management, bank reconciliations, investor/lender funding activity, and distribution calculations
- Manage reporting and compliance requirements tied to lender agreements, joint venture structures, management agreements, and other governing documents
- Ensure timely and accurate financial reporting in accordance with GAAP, including oversight of complex accounting areas such as acquisitions/dispositions, debt activity, capitalization policies, and ownership structures
- Review financial statements, general ledger activity, reserves, write-offs, and quarterly reporting packages to ensure integrity and accuracy
- Lead technical accounting analysis and documentation for non-routine or complex transactions
- Maintain and enhance internal controls, accounting policies, and operational procedures to support financial integrity and risk mitigation
- Support budgeting, forecasting, audit coordination, and tax-related processes in partnership with internal and external stakeholders
- Provide leadership, mentorship, and oversight to accounting staff while helping develop scalable processes and operational efficiencies
- Evaluate systems, technologies, and process improvements to enhance reporting and operational effectiveness
- Prepare and review presentations, reporting packages, and ad hoc analyses for executive leadership, ownership groups, and external partners
- Strong experience within real estate accounting, development accounting, or mixed-use/property accounting environments
- Experience managing complex ownership structures, joint ventures, and institutional-grade reporting requirements
- Exposure to large-scale development, redevelopment, or mixed-use real estate projects preferred
- Prior leadership experience managing and developing accounting teams
- Strong technical accounting foundation and ability to navigate complex real estate transactions and structures
- Highly visible leadership role with direct interaction across senior leadership and ownership groups
