Compliance & Ethics (C&E) is seeking a Director to lead key initiatives within the Compliance Fair and Responsible Banking (FRB) team, enhancing governance and oversight of the Compliance Management Program (CMP). The role involves collaborating with associates to sustain governance practices and improve methodology to ensure Capital One effectively manages compliance risk.
The successful candidate will be self‑starting and collaborative, connecting elements of the CMP to the regulatory environment, business practices, and customer needs. They should be comfortable delivering results amid changing conditions, moving from ambiguity toward grounded recommendations, providing strategic and tactical guidance, and influencing partners across the organization. Strong problem‑solving, analytical skills, attention to detail, and process/project leadership are essential.
Responsibilities- Play a key role in contributing to the effective design and delivery of initiatives to enhance the existing CMP.
- Collaborate with stakeholder community (General Compliance Advisory & Testing, Enterprise Risk Management, audit, business risk offices, front‑line process owners) to enhance governance practices.
- Leverage data and analytics to inform outcomes and proactively identify improvement opportunities.
- Collaborate with cross‑functional teams to accomplish shared objectives.
- Anticipate, identify, and elevate problems early and propose mitigations.
- Provide strategic program leadership, driving alignment in a matrixed, highly regulated environment.
- Design, develop, and manage risk‑management‑focused project plans in a complex dynamic environment, revising needs to meet changing requirements.
- Bachelor’s Degree or military experience.
- At least 8 years of experience in compliance, risk management, legal, or audit.
- At least 5 years of process, project, or program management experience.
- At least 4 years of people‑management experience.
- Master’s Degree or Juris Doctor.
- Certified Regulatory Compliance Manager (CRCM) or Certified Enterprise Risk Professional (CERP).
- 7+ years of experience in financial services.
- Experience designing and implementing compliance management programs.
- Expertise in consumer protection laws (e.g., FCRA, SCRA).

The minimum and maximum full‑time annual salaries for this role are listed below, by location. These ranges reflect the amount Capital One is willing to pay at the time of this posting.
- Chicago, IL: $187,300 – $213,700
- McLean, VA: $206,000 – $235,100
- Richmond, VA: $187,300 – $213,700
- Riverwoods, IL: $187,300 – $213,700
This role is eligible to earn performance‑based incentive compensation, which may include cash bonuses and/or long‑term incentives.
