Material Handler Position Overview

The Material Handler maintains material requirements for all production needs. A Material Handler in a manufacturing setting is responsible for the timely and efficient movement of raw materials, components, and finished products within the production facility. This role plays a crucial part in ensuring that the production process runs smoothly and meets schedule demands.

• Read production schedule and determine material requirements.
• Move materials and containers from storage or work sites to designated areas to meet production schedule requirements.
• Identify materials and containers with suitable tags or labels.
• Clean work areas, machines, and equipment to assist operators.
• Load loose materials into hoppers and containers.
• Mix materials according to product requirements.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

• Ability to read, analyze, and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedures.
• Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
• Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from co-workers.
• Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
• Frequently required walking and reaching with hands and arms.
• Occasionally required to climb or balance.
• Able to operate forklift.

• Noise level is usually moderate.
• Exposure to moving mechanical parts.
• Frequently required lifting and moving up to 30 pounds.
• Frequently required standing, bending, squatting, and reaching with hands and arms.
• Regularly required to stand for long periods, walk, talk, and hear.
