Job Summary

The role is as a proactive member of the Senior Management team of Nidec Traction to create, deliver, and manage strategies to achieve operational excellence within the manufacturing footprint of the business. The goal is to meet ambitious targets of safety, quality, cost, delivery and drive continuous improvement across all manufacturing related areas of the business. This includes providing clear leadership and vision, inspiring and mentoring staff, and driving KPI achievement to ensure all projects are delivered on time, on budget and to the highest quality standards.

Job Responsibilities
  • Overall responsibility for manufacturing activities across the global business and developing the footprints in China, India, Mexico and the US to accommodate the region‑specific manufacturing strategy.
  • Implement manufacturing best practices, bringing vision, strategy, policies, processes and procedures to aid and improve business performance.
  • Ensure manufacturing strategies and processes support the business objectives and demands of the Nidec Group.
  • Evaluate challenges faced by the business and take action to mitigate risks and identify opportunities.
  • Contribute to overall business strategy and the annual budget process, focusing on the Base Line Profit (BLP).
  • Own the manufacturing policy, guidelines and all associated documents.
  • Lead, develop and implement variable‑cost productivity programs across all areas of responsibility.
  • Formulate and deploy strategies to optimize plant cost performance through capital investment programs, targeting the adoption of automation where appropriate.
  • Develop and manage the master production schedule and execute maintenance activities so that plant performance meets or exceeds OEE targets.
  • Provide input for manufacturing in the early stages of new product development, collaborating with R&D and supply chain to create efficient processes that maintain quality, safety and environmental standards while achieving cost targets.
  • Ensure that environmental, health, safety, manufacturing and quality standards and procedures are adhered to.
  • Build a quality system that ensures manufacturing capabilities and quality levels meet or exceed company requirements and customer needs.
  • Collaborate with the plant manager to meet continuous improvement goals and achieve operational excellence.
  • Develop and champion risk‑mitigation strategies to guarantee continuity of operations and supply.
  • Partner with finance on budget and ongoing cost control and on proposed facility and operational capital investments in line with business objectives.
  • Create, develop and deploy an organizational construct to drive process consistency and accountability.
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders to ensure optimal performance.
Additional Job Details

Required Qualifications and Experience
  • Bachelor of Engineering or higher; electric motor or electronics major is a plus; MBA preferred.
  • 15+ years of progressive manufacturing experience, with at least 5 years in a leadership role.
  • P&L management experience strongly preferred.
  • Strong business acumen and a proven track record of achieving financial and operational results.
  • Demonstrated leadership skills, including team building, coaching and the ability to motivate people.
  • Highly results–oriented and customer‑focused.
  • Lean Six Sigma experience preferred.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Willingness to travel.
