Action Cabinets Inc. is seeking a Cabinet Maker/Plastic Laminate fabricator to join our team. We are an architectural millwork company specializing in commercial projects throughout Chicagoland and the Midwest. Our projects include corporate headquarters, office spaces, receptions, hospitality environments, hospitals, education facilities, and specialty commercial interiors. We work alongside some of Chicagoland’s most respected general contractors.

Cabinet Maker/Plastic Laminate Fabricator– Key Responsibilities
- Fabricate and assemble custom cabinetry, casework, and architectural millwork components
- Construct plastic laminate commercial cabinets by using all necessary tools and products such as applying adhesives, operating machines such as roller, table saws, edge banders router, and table saw.
- Interpret shop drawings to ensure accurate fabrication.
- Work with a variety of materials including plywood, MDF, veneer panels, plastic laminate, solid wood, and composite materials
- Work together with the Shop Foreman and fellow colleagues to maintain steady production flow with accuracy at an optimal output to meet project deadlines.
- Maintain a clean, organized, workplace with safety in mind at all times.
- Maintain high standards of craftsmanship, fit, and finish on all projects
- Ability to handle raw materials up to 100 pounds and stand for long periods
- Experience in a millwork shop or preferably in a custom architectural millwork shop
- Strong ability to read and interpret detailed shop drawings
- Knowledge and experience in handling chemicals
- Proficiency utilizing woodworking tools and fabrication equipment
- Detail-oriented with a strong commitment to quality
- Self-motivated and able to work independently while contributing to a team
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced manufacturing environment
– Key Responsibilities
- Fabricate, shape, seam, and finish a variety of solid surface materials according to specification from start to finish.
- Read and interpret shop drawings, cut sheets and specifications for both solid surface and plastic laminate countertops.
- Obtain necessary raw materials, supplies, and tools to perform an assembly task.
- Lay out raw material on work table and measure material to be cut.
- Use table saw and/or chop saw to cut material to proper dimensions.
- Use shaper and/or router to trim material and round off edges.
- Assemble products per work order using glue process and then clamps material together.
- Finish product using a buffer and sander yielding a high-quality result.
- Perform quality control checks on completed items to ensure a match with specifications to the work order. Troubleshoot to resolve challenges related to common material, fabrication, and installation issues.
- Transport finished project to staging area in the shop.
- Attention to detail, technical proficiency, physical stamina, and knowledge in chemical handling are essential aspects of the position.
- Work together with the Shop Foreman and fellow colleagues to maintain steady production flow with accuracy at an optimal output to meet project deadlines.
