CNC Machinist

The CNC Machinist sets up and operates Swiss CNC machinery to produce high-quality parts in a clean, climate-controlled manufacturing environment. This role uses blueprints and schematics to configure machines for production, performs changeovers at the controller, and troubleshoots minor production issues while partnering with the maintenance team. The CNC Machinist also completes minor preventive maintenance as needed to ensure consistent and efficient operation.

Responsibilities
  • Set up and operate Swiss CNC machines to run production according to specifications.
  • Read and interpret blueprints and schematics to configure machine settings and tooling.
  • Perform changeovers on CNC machinery at the controller when required to meet production needs.
  • Troubleshoot production issues and collaborate with the maintenance team to resolve minor mechanical or process problems.
  • Complete minor preventive maintenance tasks on CNC equipment to maintain optimal performance.
  • Monitor machine operation during production runs and make adjustments to ensure quality and efficiency.
Essential Skills
  • Hands-on experience setting up and operating CNC machinery, preferably Citizen brand Swiss CNC machines.
  • Ability to read, understand, and work from blueprints and schematics.
  • Proficiency in CNC machine operation, including controller-based setup and changeovers.
  • Experience with troubleshooting production and machine operation issues.
  • Familiarity with Swiss lathe operations and CNC programs.
  • Experience as a machine operator in a manufacturing or production environment.
  • Attention to detail and commitment to producing high-quality parts.
  • Ability to follow safety procedures and perform minor preventive maintenance tasks.

Environment

The role is based in a clean, lean manufacturing facility that has recently undergone significant investment and expansion to support plastic injection molding and CNC operations. The building is divided into separate departments, with this position located on the right side in the cable solutions area. The environment is clean, climate-controlled, well-lit, and highly organized. Each employee is assigned their own workstation or rotates among stations where tools and materials are neatly arranged.

The facility includes an on-site café offering breakfast, lunch, and snack options, company-provided personal protective equipment, and locker rooms with locks provided. Work is performed in a structured production setting focused on reliability, organization, and high-quality.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Elgin, IL.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $30.00/hr eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
