Intern Domestic Violence Community Outreach & Education Du Page

This is an unpaid internship for current college students needing the hours to complete a course or graduation requirements. This is one of three internship opportunities in the Domestic Violence Program at our DuPage Center.
Intern Community Outreach & Education- Support domestic violence community outreach and education efforts through prevention education in DuPage County and surrounding area schools.
- Assist in tabling and other community events with local organizations.
- Learn to promote the Bathroom Poster project and other outreach efforts.
- Opportunities to create educational social media content.
- Provide support for 40hr domestic violence training.
- Provide support for internal and external trainings facilitated by the Community Outreach and Education team.
- Develops and maintains a strong working knowledge of MFS programs and community-based resources. May facilitate linkages with services both within MFS and in the community.
- Attends any mandatory group supervision and program/agency meetings.
- Completes paperwork in a timely manner, including Community Engagement Logs and other documentation tools specific to the program.
- Remains cognizant of current developments in the field of domestic violence. Attends appropriate workshops, conferences, etc. to enhance professional development and understanding of issues in the field.
- Establishes and maintains contact with local agencies, organizations, and partnering sites as appropriate; effectively and professionally represents Metropolitan Family Services and the domestic violence program in the community.
- Other duties specific to the needs of the particular site or program where this position is based.
- Intern in a bachelor‑level education, public health, psychology, sociology, or criminal justice program preferred. No clinical needs for internship.
- Satisfactorily pass all relevant screening and criminal background checks.
- Must have access to a vehicle, proof of insurance, and a valid driver's license to perform essential functions, required.
- Located at 222 E Willow Ave
- While performing the essential duties of this internship, the intern is required to sit and stand for sustained periods of time, frequently talk, hear, use hands and fingers to feel, handle, and operate objects or controls, and occasionally stand, bend, stretch, stoop, kneel, and crouch. The intern is required to have close visual acuity to perform activities such as preparing and analyzing data and figures, transcribing, and viewing a computer terminal.
The intern may occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.
- Must complete a minimum of 300 hours.
- Must complete a 40‑hour Domestic Violence training.
