Job Description SummaryThis position is available for licensed Registered Nurses (RN). Under a nurse’s supervision, you will perform designated technical, clerical, and clinical tasks associated with patient home care, including assessment, obtaining IV access, port access, education, and infusion of injectable medications. In addition, you will handle pharmacy quality control, pharmacy & nursing records management, inventory control, and preparation of drug orders.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities- Administer specialty medications via IV, subcutaneous injections, or other methods; monitor patients for adverse reactions.
- Assess patient medical history, allergies, current medications, and vital signs before, during, and after infusions; identify risks or side effects.
- Educate patients and caregivers about medications, side effects, and emergency management.
- Continuously monitor patients for immediate reactions; schedule follow‑up calls or visits; adjust care plans as needed.
- Maintain detailed, accurate records of infusion processes, patient responses, adverse events, and education provided.
- Collaborate with nursing team, pharmacists, and other staff to coordinate treatment plans and communicate any issues to the clinical nurse supervisor.
- Ensure proper preparation and handling of medications, verifying correct medication and dosage.
- Implement sterile techniques and infection‑control guidelines; maintain safety protocols during preparation and administration.
- Monitor medication stock levels, coordinate with pharmacy staff to manage inventory and ensure availability of specialty medications.
- Provide support for insurance verification or authorization processes related to specialty medications.
- Participate in CSI’s Immunoglobulin Mentorship Program, providing guidance and coaching to new or transferring nursing staff.
- Assume clinical resource role for mentees during orientation or transition periods.
- Engage in document review, competency checklists, and required training records; conduct direct observation of clinical practice.
- Document mentorship activities and competency assessments per CSI policies and accreditation requirements.
- College degree or certification (RN) with 2 years of experience (required). ER/ICU/Infusion experience preferred.
- Experience accessing PIV lines, ports, and maintaining PICC lines – 1 year (required).
- Infusion experience in a hospital or home‑health setting – 1 year (preferred).
- Successful completion of a pre‑employment drug screen (includes medical and recreational marijuana).
