Job Summary
RN (Infusion) Part‑Time – Responsible for direct and indirect care of SBL Infusion Services patients, including initiating and maintaining intravenous lines, administering medication and fluid therapy, educating patients and families, reviewing records, validating medication lists and histories, ensuring documentation, and monitoring for reactions.
Department: SBL Infusion Center
Hours: Part time, 20 hours/week
Shift: 1st
Location: Sarah Bush Lincoln Health Center
- Accepts reassignment at management discretion, including to all SBL Infusion Services areas where training has occurred and competency established.
- Collects pertinent data and information relative to the patient’s health or situation; recognizes normal and abnormal findings.
- Maintains clean and adequately stocked exam rooms and work spaces in adherence to regulatory and infection‑control policies.
- Collaborates with physicians and the health‑care team to address patient issues through mutual information sharing, discussion, and decision‑making.
- Processes patient charges for procedures and supplies correctly.
- Plans and evaluates care in collaboration with appropriate disciplines for assigned patients.
- Analyzes assessment data to determine actual or potential diagnoses, problems, and issues.
- Educates patients and families appropriately for their procedures and treatment.
- Evaluates progress toward attainment of goals and outcomes; reports data and outcomes to physician and/or other disciplines.
- Handles patient phone calls for education and reassurance needs.
- Implements care and supervises care delivered by other team members in alignment with the plan of care and approved safety and infection‑control standards.
- Actively pursues required knowledge and skills through orientation activities, unit‑based in‑service programs, current literature, and new clinical learning opportunities.
- Identifies expected outcomes for a plan individualized to the patient or situation.
- Participates in ongoing variance monitoring of clinical pathways.
- Performs general clerical duties as required (receiving and mailing test results, validating charges, transcribing data, ordering supplies, making calls to patients or other departments).
- Develops a plan that prescribes strategies to attain expected, measurable outcomes.
- Establishes effective working relationships with peers, physicians, and other health‑care team members; confers with appropriate resources regarding patient‑care decisions.
- Takes calls after hours as assigned and accepts call coverage at all SBL Infusion Services areas directed by management.
- Employs teaching strategies to promote health and a safe environment.
- ADN (required); BLS or CPR certification within 90 days of hire.
- Registered Nurse licensed in Illinois (RN).
- Experience and prior training in infusion services preferred.
- Hourly pay based on experience, ranging from $33.73 to $52.28.
