RN Nephrology – Provides patient care and bedside dialysis for acutely ill dialysis patients within a multidisciplinary team and collaborates with hospital nursing staff to ensure comprehensive care for the Kidney Disease Community.
Hours:
7:00am – 7:30pm.
- Accept reassignment as directed by management, as applicable to staffing levels and patient volumes, including to cardiology areas where training has occurred and competency has been established.
- Administer medications as directed by the provider, including intravenous therapy, and document appropriate medical justification and effectiveness.
- Apply the nursing process to patient and family education to promote compliance across the continuum of care.
- Assess, collaborate, and document patient and family learning needs; collect pertinent data and recognize normal and abnormal findings to evaluate progress toward goals.
- Collaborate with direct and ancillary patient‑care staff; coordinate care plans; evaluate progress and report data and outcomes to the appropriate disciplines.
- Assist providers with patient examinations, treatments, and procedures; clean, stock, and dispose of exam room supplies per infection‑control policies; sterilize equipment as needed.
- Direct and provide safe, effective patient care for assigned patients as prescribed for all modality‑specific treatment procedures.
- Implement care and supervise care delivered by other team members in alignment with the care plan and approved safety and infection‑control standards; initiate and assist with emergency response measures.
- Obtain provider initials or signatures on phone‑message communications to verify accuracy of information.
- Provide specialized nursing‑care instruction to hospital or facility staff when requested.
- Active RN license in the state of Illinois.
- ACLS certification within 90 days of hire.
- BLS or CPR certification within 90 days of hire.
- Admission to the nursing program (ADN) required.
- Demonstrated knowledge and skills through orientation, unit‑based in‑service programs, current literature review, and additional clinical learning opportunities.
Estimated hourly range: $37.23 – $57.71, paid based on experience.
