Job Title: Quality Assurance Inspector – Gas Distribution Construction (2 Openings)
Locations:
- 1 Position – Chicago, IL
We are seeking two experienced and dependable Quality Assurance (QA) professionals to support ongoing gas distribution construction projects in the Chicagoland area. These are long-term positions intended for candidates looking for stable employment and career growth over the next five years or more.
One QA Inspector will oversee work related to projects in the Illinois suburbs, while the second will support projects within the City of Chicago.
The ideal candidates will possess strong field knowledge of gas utility construction practices, quality assurance standards, and compliance requirements associated with natural gas distribution systems.
Compensation & Schedule Local Hire Compensation- Pay Rate: $50.00 per hour
- Overtime available as needed and paid at time-and-a-half
- Job-related mileage reimbursement included as part of the compensation package
- Pay Rate: $38.00 per hour
- Overtime available as needed and paid at time-and-a-half
- Perform QA oversight of gas distribution construction activities
- Monitor and verify compliance with client specifications, safety standards, and regulatory requirements
- Inspect PE fusion, welding, pressure testing, and related construction activities
- Ensure proper documentation and quality control procedures are followed
- Support damage prevention and excavation safety initiatives
- Coordinate with field crews, contractors, and client representatives
- Identify deficiencies and communicate corrective actions
- Maintain accurate inspection and project records
- In-depth knowledge of gas distribution construction practices
- Strong experience with:
- PE fusion
- Welding
- Pressure testing
- Damage prevention
- Utility construction QA/QC procedures
- Understanding of Operator Qualifications (OQ) requirements and compliance
- Ability to work independently in the field and communicate effectively with project teams
- Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation preferred
- Candidates must be committed to remaining in the role long term (minimum 5-year commitment preferred)
- Previous experience working on Natural Gas projects
- Utility inspection or QA/QC background
- Knowledge of federal, state, and local gas utility standards and regulations
