Lab Technician

The Quality Assurance Laboratory Technician plays a crucial role in ensuring that food safety and quality standards are met by performing required testing on raw materials and finished goods. The technician ensures compliance with quality requirements in relation to certifications, as well as customer, state, and federal standards.

• Follow Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs), and Good Laboratory Practices (GLPs).
• Perform routine chemical analysis on raw materials and finished products, including pH, moisture, salt, and fat content.
• Conduct data entry and maintain records as required by lab SOPs.
• Assist with product sampling, inspection, testing, and support the hold and release program.
• Provide feedback to managers and production teams regarding quality-related discrepancies, violations, or issues needing resolution.
• Assist during facility visits and audits by retrieving documentation during the audit process.

• Proficiency in laboratory, biology, and chemistry.
• Experience with pH testing and titration.
• Bachelor's degree in Science (Biology, Chemistry, Food Science, or related field) OR previous experience in Food Manufacturing.
• Basic lab skills including pH, moisture, salt, and fat analysis.
• Proficiency in MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
• Ability to work independently.
• Knowledge in quality control and food science.
• Experience in food manufacturing.

• Bachelor's degree in a related science field is preferred.
• Previous experience in a food manufacturing environment is advantageous.

The role is based in a food manufacturing plant, primarily within a lab environment. The technician will go to the production floor a few times per shift to collect samples but will spend the majority of the day in the quality lab. Working hours are Monday to Friday, 7:30 am to 4:00 pm, with overtime based on production needs, including Saturdays as required.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of ELGIN, IL.

The pay range for this position is $18.00 - $18.00/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
