DNA Production and Lab Operations Lead

Syntax is looking for an organized, detail-oriented, collaborative, curious, communicative, inclusive, proactive leader for the DNA (Cellgorithm) Production and Lab Operations role. 80% of the candidate’s time will be allocated to Cellgorithm Production, with the remaining 20% being spent on Lab Operations responsibilities. The candidate must be able to follow established protocols with minimal supervision, take ownership of a project or task, demonstrate initiative and creativity in problem solving and have good time management skills.

The candidate must also pay attention to details, recognize and communicate opportunities to improve on protocols, be okay with repetitive tasks and enjoy structure.

• Order and QC plasmid constructs from 3 rd party vendors
• Prep plasmid constructs as needed for company-wide experiments
• Manage hundreds of samples at a time and juggle the demands of a multidisciplinary team
• Design and implement experiments to reduce the cost and improve efficiency of the Cellgorithm Production process using automation and/or coding workflows
• Maintain up to date knowledge of advancements in the field of molecular biology and associated laboratory techniques and technologies
• Organize and present DNA production/QC pipeline status and other experimental results at regular lab meetings
• Maintain accurate, well-organized experimental records
• Share knowledge about protocols or training for equipment when needed
• Manage general lab operations (ordering & receiving reagents and consumables, inventory management etc.)
• Participate in the generation and revision of SOPs

BS in biological sciences or a relevant field with 3+ years lab experience

or

MS in biological sciences or a relevant field with 1+ years lab experience

• Microbial culture
• Isolation and QC of nucleic acids
• Plasmid DNA library prep & sequencing
• Analysis of plasmid sequencing data

• Experience with lab automation (Hamilton, Opentrons)
• Experience using AI tools for research, data analysis, and building workflows
• Mammalian cell culture
