Tru Western is a leading fragrance brand inspired by Western heritage. We are passionate about bringing authentic, high-quality scents to the market and are rapidly expanding our footprint across North America. As we grow, we’re seeking a driven, resourceful Commercial Sales Specialist to join our Chicago-based commercial sales team.

Reporting to the VP of Commercial Sales for Tru Western brands, you will establish strong working relationships with internal cross-functional teams, key retailer accounts and our independent sales reps.

Key Responsibilities Commercial Sales & Business Development Support
  • Conduct research to identify new business opportunities, prospective partners, and emerging market trends relevant to our target sales channels.
  • Proactively build and qualify prospect lists for sales reps, research/organize new trade shows, coordinate outreach activities, and track engagement with potential new accounts.
  • Serve as primary point of contact for assigned retailer accounts, managing day-to-day communications, coordinating order processing, resolving account issues, and ensuring seamless execution of promotional programs and product launches.
  • Monitor and report on retailer account performance, tracking sales metrics, inventory levels, and promotional effectiveness across key accounts, and proactively identifying opportunities to drive growth and optimize account health.
  • Create, update, and maintain impactful sales enablement tools, monthly sales reports, presentations, and collateral to support sales reps and drive commercial growth.
  • Develop expertise about our customers and competitors to help expand our business.
  • Use Excel and AI tools to analyze sales performance, customer data, and market trends and update regular business reports, sales scorecards, and competitive insights for leadership and external audiences.
  • Ensuring customer and brand folders are consistently updated, organized and information is easily accessible to the rest of the organization.
  • Create and update retail sales performance reports—including promotions, launches, and category activity—across all channels with Excel and AI tools.
  • Assist with sales forecasting and budgeting to support accurate business planning and tracking relevant KPIs.
  • Support day-to-day sales operations, which may include: presentation creation, forecasting assistance, assisting and troubleshooting miscellaneous retailer/sales rep requests and marketing/sampling coordination. Keep all sales processes current and suggest improvements.
  • Work cross-functionally with marketing, operations, customer care to align on commercial initiatives, assist in go-to-market plans, and support promotional campaigns.
  • Organize and update customer and brand folders to ensure easy access to vital information throughout the organization.
  • Help maintain and optimize the Pepperi order management system and GoFormz to facilitate sales ordering, onboarding and training for new reps.
Project & Event Coordination
  • Plan and execute retailer-specific marketing activities, product launches, and promotions in collaboration with internal and external partners.
  • Coordinate meetings and trade shows, including follow-ups, and sample shipment organization.

Skills & Qualifications
  • 3-5 years relevant account management experience, ideally in fragrance, consumer goods, beauty, or Western-lifestyle categories with proven ability to develop and manage retail partnerships, coordinate promotional activities, and drive account growth.
  • Demonstrated success building and maintaining relationships with retail buyers and merchandising teams, including experience managing retailer portals, compliance requirements, and day-to-day account needs across multiple retail partners.
  • Experience supporting or managing retail-specific initiatives such as product launches, promotional calendars, in-store programs, and sales reporting.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills; comfortable building PowerPoint presentations.
