Overview
The Technician I – Fire Alarm Install is an entry-level role on the Fire Alarm Installation team, responsible for assisting with the installation of fire alarm systems in residential, commercial, and industrial settings. This position supports senior installers and leads, learning proper installation techniques, code compliance, and safety procedures while delivering high-quality workmanship and excellent customer service.
Responsibilities- Assist in the installation of fire alarm products, devices, panels, and related equipment under the guidance of senior technicians.
- Pull and terminate cabling, trim out devices, and perform minor conduit work.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment on-site.
- Follow all company safety procedures and adhere to industry safety standards.
- Exhibit professional communication and customer service skills when interacting with clients.
- Learn to read and interpret installation drawings, diagrams, and work orders.
- Support the team in troubleshooting and minor system adjustments as directed.
- Participate in on-the-job training to develop technical skills and system knowledge.
- High school diploma or equivalent required; technical or vocational training preferred.
- Professional, trustworthy, and able to work independently and as part of a team.
- Experience using hand and power tools.
- Ability to follow verbal and written instructions accurately.
- Physical ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs., walk, kneel, bend, and climb ladders.
- Comfortable working in varied positions, including above ceilings, within ducts, crawl spaces, and scaffolding/high lift equipment.
- NICET certifications in Fire Alarm Systems strongly desired.
- Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.
- Dependable, punctual, and able to work variable start times as required.
The physical demands outlined here are representative of a typical installation role:
Bending, walking, kneeling, climbing of ladders, lifting/carrying up to 50 lbs.
This role offers hourly compensation based on experience, ranging from $22.00 hourly - to $25.00 hourly. Compensation beyond this range may be considered for NICET certification and/or additional years of experience. Full benefits are offered, including immediate health benefits.
