About the Role
NV Global Data Centers, a leading provider of data center services worldwide, seeks a Data Center Technician to maintain operational integrity and regulatory compliance of electrical, mechanical, and fire life safety systems.
Your Role at a GlanceThe Data Center Technician delivers a working level of data center knowledge and ensures the data center operates at maximum efficiency, minimizes costs, and provides rapid problem identification and resolution.
Duties and Responsibilities- Develop creative approaches to reduce operational costs, improve efficiency, and implement new strategies.
- Mechanical responsibilities:
- Chilled water systems and components
- HVAC systems (roof top units, CRAC/CRAH units, humidification)
- Water treatment, pumps, VFDs, and heat exchangers
- Cooling towers and related equipment
- Electrical responsibilities:
- Distribution from Utility/Generator main switch gear to UPS systems and customer load
- Transformers, PLCs, ATS, PDU’s, and static UPS systems
- NFPA 70E, NEC, and other regulatory compliance
- Fire Life Safety responsibilities:
- Wet sprinkler systems, pre‑action sprinkler systems, and associated detection devices
- Compliance with NFPA 72, NFPA 25, and other fire codes
- Test performance of electromechanical assemblies and electronic voltmeters.
- Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical orders to determine methods and sequences of processes.
- Inspect parts for surface defects and install electrical or electronic components using hand or power tools.
- Align, fit, or assemble component parts using hand or power tools.
- Operate, monitor, maintain, and respond to abnormal conditions in facilities systems covering Mechanical, Electrical, Fire Life Safety, and Building Monitoring and Control.
- Analyze systems to ensure best practices for both internal and external customers.
- Provide feedback on effectiveness of standards and processes.
- Work with contractors and consultants to review quality assurance for system expansions, corrections, and upgrades.
- Collaborate with CF Ops Lead Technician to track and complete a preventive and predictive maintenance program.
- Prevent unplanned customer-impacting events and recommend new technologies to improve efficiency and reduce costs.
- Work with CF Ops Lead Technician to determine maintenance requirements for mechanical, electrical, and fire life safety systems.
- Perform other duties as assigned and maintain regular attendance.
- Systems knowledge – Mechanical, electrical, and fire life safety systems used in a data center environment.
- Regulatory and code knowledge – NEC, NFPA 70E, NFPA 72, NFPA 25, and building codes related to fire life safety.
- Safety best practices – Lockout/tag‑out, arc flash protection, OSHA and state regulations.
- Data trending and analysis – Ability to use PC-based integrated critical monitoring systems.
- Hands-on installation and troubleshooting – Large commercial and industrial systems including chilled water, cooling towers, pumps, HVAC equipment, emergency standby generators, and UPS systems.
- Communication and coordination – Effectively interact with customers, internal staff, and contractors.
- Problem-solving and multi-tasking – Logical analysis of problems and management of multiple projects.
- Tool operation – Hand tools, power tools, electrical measurement tools, and forklift operation.
- Work environment adaptability – Comfortable working in high-stress, fast-paced environments with shifting priorities, nights, holidays, and weekends.
- L1: High School Diploma required. Associate’s Degree or equivalent education and/or work experience and at least 2 years in a mechanical/electrical position within critical facilities (data center, hospital, semiconductor, or power plant). CPR/First Aid and NFPA
70E Certification required. OSHA approved forklift certification required or obtainable after hire. - L2: Associate of Science in Technology degree or equivalent education and/or work experience and at least 3 years in a mechanical/electrical position within critical facilities. CPR/First Aid and NFPA
