Job SummaryThe Mobile Trailer Technician II will be responsible for performing certified DOT inspections, preventative maintenance inspections, light repairs, and other duties as assigned such as trailer brakes, air lines, auxiliary pumps, engines, liftgates, brake chambers, welding, fabrication, replacement of panels, body, and framework. The position is an on‑site, dedicated role that does not include emergency side‑of‑the‑road repairs. Traveling is required 100% of the time.
CompensationHourly base pay rate: $29.42 – $44.13 per hour, adjusted for location and qualifications. Eligible for additional commission or incentive programs. $2,500 New‑Hire Bonus (50% after 30 days, 50% after 180 days).
Responsibilities- Perform preventive maintenance and repairs, DOT inspections, and follow‑up repairs on trailers and equipment.
- Accurately complete DOT forms and all other required documentation using the company TRAIT application on an iOS device.
- Diagnose and troubleshoot electrical components and perform minor adjustments and repairs on trailer brakes, air lines, auxiliary pumps, engines, liftgates, and brake chambers.
- Maintain and operate company‑issued service vehicle, conduct safety checks, and pre‑/post‑trip inspections.
- Manage parts inventory, reconcile on the company‑issued service truck, and obtain parts from approved vendors.
- Respond to call center–dispatched unscheduled service and maintenance requests.
- Communicate effectively with customers and vendors, coordinating repair estimates, purchase orders, and repair order findings.
- Adhere to safety, health, and environmental policies, and comply with federal regulations including OSHA, EPA, and DOT.
- Work independently and manage daily schedule, maintaining productivity within standard repair times.
- High School Diploma or GED and at least 3 years of related trailer repair experience (additional experience may substitute for education).
- Must possess and supply the hand tools required for job duties.
- OEM training and certifications preferred.
- Must successfully complete and pass a DOT‑regulated pre‑employment background check and DOT physical, or provide a valid DOT medical card with more than four months remaining.
- BMI:
Candidate must be at least 21 years old, hold a valid state driver’s license and be eligible for a Driver Qualification File. - Class CDL C license required.
- Ase T8 (PMI) certification required or must be obtained within 18 months of hire.
- ASE 608/609, T4 (Brakes), T5 (Suspension), T6 (Electrical and Electronic Systems), T7 (HVAC) certifications are preferred.
