Electrician

This role focuses on new construction electrical work with an emphasis on supporting larger electrical contractors in outdoor projects. Instead of performing all aspects of building wiring, you will primarily install and service exterior electrical systems such as parking lot lighting and underground power runs. In addition to traditional electrical tasks, you will operate heavy equipment to perform horizontal drilling and bury electrical lines, working almost entirely outdoors in a physically demanding environment.

Responsibilities
  • Perform new construction electrical work in support of larger electrical contractors, focusing on exterior and site-related systems.
  • Install and service parking lot lighting and other outdoor electrical systems according to project specifications and electrical codes.
  • Read and interpret blueprints and diagrams to plan conduit runs, wiring layouts, and equipment locations.
  • Install, run, and secure conduit, including bending conduit accurately to fit project requirements.
  • Pull, route, and terminate electrical wiring for high and medium voltage applications as required.
  • Operate heavy construction equipment such as horizontal drilling machines, backhoes, and bulldozers to install underground electrical lines.
  • Perform horizontal drilling to run wire and conduit underground safely and efficiently.
  • Bury electrical lines and related infrastructure using appropriate tools and equipment while maintaining safe work practices.
  • Use hand and power tools to complete installations, repairs, and adjustments on electrical systems and components.
  • Work outdoors in varying weather conditions, performing physically demanding tasks such as digging, lifting, and equipment handling.
  • Follow all safety procedures and regulations related to electrical work and heavy equipment operation.
  • Collaborate with a small field team to complete projects on schedule and communicate effectively with teammates and leadership about job progress.
  • Travel within a limited local service area to various job sites and maintain a clean driving record while operating company vehicles.
  • Learn and adapt to specialized equipment and techniques used in horizontal drilling and underground electrical installations.
Essential Skills
  • At least 5 years of electrician experience in construction or related environments.
  • Strong hands-on experience with electrical wiring, including installation, pulling wire, and electrical terminations.
  • Proficiency in reading and interpreting blueprints and electrical diagrams.
  • Demonstrated ability to install, run, and bend conduit, including experience with conduit bending tools.
  • Experience working with high and medium voltage electrical systems.
  • Ability and willingness to learn to operate specialized equipment used for horizontal drilling and underground line installation.
  • Clean driving record suitable for operating company vehicles.
  • Willingness and ability to obtain a Commercial Driver's License (CDL) in the future.
  • Comfort working almost entirely outdoors in varying weather conditions.
  • Physical ability to perform labor-intensive tasks such as lifting, digging, equipment operation, and extended periods of standing or walking.
Additional

Skills & Qualifications
  • Previous experience operating construction equipment such as horizontal drilling rigs, backhoes, or bulldozers.
  • Prior experience performing similar electrical work involving underground lines, site lighting, or exterior power distribution.
  • Existing CDL or prior experience driving larger commercial vehicles.
  • Experience working on new construction projects alongside general and electrical contractors.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to adapt to changing job sites and project scopes.
  • Desire to work in a small, close-knit team environment with direct involvement from ownership.
Why Work Here?

You will join a small, family-owned company where leadership actively works alongside the field team and values hands-on involvement. The organization maintains a steady flow of projects within a compact service area of roughly 25 miles, minimizing long-distance travel while keeping work consistent. You will experience a variety of projects that range from a few days to several weeks, offering frequent new challenges and opportunities to grow your skills.

The culture emphasizes reliability, teamwork, and keeping the crew busy with meaningful, changing work rather than repetitive tasks.

Work Environment

This role is almost entirely outdoors, working in the elements across different seasons and weather conditions. The work is more physically demanding than many traditional electrician positions, involving tasks such as digging, lifting, equipment operation, and extended periods on your feet. You will frequently work on construction sites performing horizontal drilling, burying lines, and installing exterior lighting and power systems. The team operates within a relatively small geographic area, typically within about 25 miles of the home base, which helps limit long commutes…
