Field Service Technician

Wabash Power Equipment Co., a leading supplier of industrial boilers with over 75 years of experience serving various industries. We specialize in renting and selling large industrial boilers and are looking for a Service Specialist to lead and grow our service, repair and maintenance team.

Position Summary

The Service specialist will report to the Manager of Boiler Operations/Project Manager. You will oversee execution of boiler and auxiliary equipment start-ups, ensuring technicians follow manufacturer specifications and commissioning checklists. You will help manage field technicians, handle schedules, and improve how we serve customers. This is a hands-on role that blends technical boiler knowledge with people leadership skills.

Key Responsibilities

Managing Customer Needs

• Scheduling boiler startups and supporting onsite field technicians to ensure customer satisfaction.
• Answer service calls and dispatch technicians to customer sites.
• Help customers and technicians solve tough mechanical and electrical problems.
• Follow up with customers to ensure they are happy with our work.

Scheduling, Paperwork and Operations

• Build the master schedule for technicians for onsite visits and travel.
• Track time off and plan for emergency on-call rotations.
• Work with sales to schedule service for new equipment deliveries.
• Enforce accurate reports for labor hours, parts used, and receipts.
• Manage the budget for tools, vehicles, and labor.

Ideal Candidates

• 5+ years of industrial boiler or electrical field service experience.
• 2+ years of experience managing or supervising a team.
• knowledge of boilers, control panels, and related auxiliary systems.
• Ability to read electrical blueprints and wiring diagrams.

Able to read, interpret, and understand electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and blueprints to ensure accurate installation, maintenance, or troubleshooting.

• Knowledge of industrial utility processes, including electrical, steam, water, compressed air systems, and operational procedures.
• Experience scheduling a team of multiple traveling technicians.

Physical Work Environment

• Heavy lifting:
  Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs. (75 lbs. with help).
• Physical labor:
  Climbing ladders, kneeling, and working in tight spaces.
• Environment:
  Loud, hot, and dusty industrial boiler rooms.
• Some Travel required, including driving or flying to job sites, and overnight stays.
