Railserve is hiring dependable, safety-focused Rail Switching Technicians in Bedford Park, IL to support daily rail operations at industrial facilities. This is a full-time, outdoor, hands-on role critical to keeping railcars moving safely and efficiently.

** Job Description
** In this role, you’ll work as part of a team to move, organize, and secure railcars, supporting customer operations and ensuring every move is performed with precision and care.

** Schedule*
* • Full-time; schedule varies based on site needs
• Weekends and holidays may be required
** Compensation** $24.00 – $28.00 per hour (based on experience)
** Duties*
* • Review track lists to identify railcars for spotting, separation, loading, or outbound movement
• Safely connect, secure, and position railcars by setting brakes and verifying proper couplings
• Separate loaded, empty, and pre-loaded cars to support efficient yard flow
• Verify weights of inbound and outbound railcars to ensure compliance
• Operate switches, derails, and trackside equipment to support safe rail movements
• Communicate with crew members using radio, hand signals, and visual indicators
• Perform additional tasks as needed to support safe, reliable, and efficient rail operations
** Job Requirements*
* • High school diploma or equivalent
• Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions
• Ability to lift, carry, and handle equipment (up to ~50 lbs)
• Ability to climb on and off railcars, ladders, and platforms
• Ability to wear required PPE without restriction
• Must be at least 18 years old and legally authorized to work in the U.S.
• Ability to pass a drug screen, physical, and background check
• Reliable transportation and strong attendance
• Military experience and experience following detailed procedures is a plus
