OverviewOperations is responsible for materials handling and product distribution in a distribution or manufacturing environment. This includes warehousing and fulfillment of materials and products, transportation, inventory management as well as demand, supply and manufacturing planning.
Warehouse Operations is responsible for performing and controlling a combination of manual or automated tasks necessary for the receipt, storage, and shipment of product. These tasks include receiving, picking, packing, shipping, staging, transporting, storing, and delivering items. The role also ensures the efficient flow of products from vendor receipt to shipment to a variety of internal and external customers.
Job SummaryThe Supervisor, Warehouse Operations oversees a team of Associates and ensures that pick, pack, and ship operations are safe, efficient, and of high quality. The supervisor monitors efficiency and quality metrics, assigns work, provides coaching, and addresses operational issues. The role contributes to Cardinal Health’s customer service reputation by ensuring on‑time, high‑quality shipments and by developing warehouse talent.
Responsibilities- Supervise the daily work assignments and performance of Group Leads and Associates, providing guidance to complete pick, pack, and ship tasks safely and correctly.
- Ensure warehouse systems are ready and schedule and prioritize the work for each Group Lead and their Associates, tracking attendance and headcount to meet objectives.
- Monitor productivity and quality metrics such as cycle times, lines per hour, shortages, damaged units, missed dispatches, and missed scans; report performance regularly to the Manager of Warehouse Operations.
- Identify root causes of productivity or safety issues, direct staff on resolution, and document and communicate results to stakeholders.
- Proactively seek opportunities to improve operations and mitigate risks; provide input into operational excellence initiatives and ensure correct implementation.
- Conduct performance evaluations, give one‑on‑one feedback, identify potential Group Leads, create performance improvement plans, and administer discipline when necessary.
- Participate in the interviewing and selection of new Associates and provide training during employee onboarding.
- 4–8 years of experience, preferred.
- High School Diploma, GED or equivalent work experience, preferred.
- PIT experience is preferred.
- Coordinate and supervise the daily activities of operations or business staff.
- Administer and exercise policies and procedures.
- Ensure employees operate within guidelines.
- Make decisions that directly impact work unit operations and customers.
- Interact frequently with subordinates, customers, and peer groups at various management levels.
- Engage in information exchange and basic problem resolution.
