Overview

Goldbelt Integrated Logistics Services (GbILS) provides four specific areas of expertise—Logistics Engineering, Measurement Sciences, Program Management, and Technical Support—serving the scientific, technical, and engineering needs of clients. GbILS values its innovative thinking and service-oriented team who provide services for a variety of federal government and commercial clients.

Summary

At the Government's discretion, Accounting Technicians will be assigned within three (3) branches throughout the ALO (Cost Accounting Branch, Fiscal Operations Branch, and Risk Management Branch). These positions shall support the operations of each branch by assisting personnel with accounting and administrative type duties including but not limited to general ledgers, risk management efforts, and process analysis.

Responsibilities
  • Provide support in maintaining ALC's general ledger
  • Support ledgers and supporting documentation
  • Support the ALC's risk management efforts
  • Provide analysis of various processes throughout ALC that affect costs and/or budget
  • Provide any other accounting and administrative services as needed
Necessary Skills and Knowledge
  • Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English
  • Demonstrated general computer skills for accounting environment, including proficiency with number pad and basic software
  • Ability to use Outlook for email, shared calendars, and electronic file management
  • Demonstrated ability to utilize common software programs including Microsoft Excel (complex functions and pivot tables), Microsoft Word, Microsoft Access, Microsoft SharePoint, Microsoft Visio, Adobe Acrobat
  • Excellent written and verbal communication
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple tasks with competing deadlines
  • Demonstrated ability to apply knowledge and infer requirements for projects based on compliance with laws and regulations
  • Demonstrated ability to work with minimal supervision
  • Possess knowledge of the various steps and procedures required to provide a full range of accounting support for commonly used practice
Minimum Qualifications
  • Accounting Degree or a degree in a related field such as business administration, finance, or public administration that includes twenty-four (24) semester hours (may include up to six (6) hours of credit in business law).
  • Combination of education and experience:
    • At least four (4) years of experience in accounting, or an equivalent combination of accounting experience, college-level education, and training that provided professional accounting.
  • The applicant’s background must also include one of the following:
    • Twenty-four (24) semester hours in accounting or auditing courses of appropriate type and quality. This can include up to six (6) hours of business law.
    • A certificate such as Certified Public Accountant or Certified Internal Auditor, obtained through written examination.
    • Completion of the requirements for a degree that included substantial coursework in accounting or auditing, e.g., fifteen (15) semester hours, but that does not fully satisfy the twenty-four (24) semester hour requirement, provided that:
      • Has successfully worked at the full-performance level in accounting, auditing, or a related field (e.g., valuation engineering or financial institution examining).
      • A panel of at least two higher level professional accountants or auditors has determined that the applicant has demonstrated a good knowledge of accounting and of related and underlying fields that equals in breadth, depth, currency, and level of advancement that is normally associated with successful completion of the four (4) year course of study described above.
      • Except for literal nonconformance to the requirement of twenty-four (24) semester hours in accounting, the applicant’s education, training, and experience fully meet the specified requirements.
  • Must be a U.S. citizen.
