Coastal Virginia is one of the most unique regions in the country as it combines its deep historical roots with modern‑day appeal, all while showcasing a captivating landscape that is undeniably appealing for anyone considering calling it home. With an unlimited array of activities, from year‑round access to numerous waterways and hundreds of miles of hiking trails to downtown cultural experiences at local theaters and museums, plus festivals and events nearly every weekend, Coastal Virginia is booming with excitement.
Best of all, it's one of the most affordable coastal areas nationwide and offers highly ranked school systems, culinary hot‑spots, and convenient access to travel both near and afar. More specifically, Elizabeth City offers an abundance of outdoor recreational activities such as fishing, boating, kayaking, walking, and exploring. With six historical districts, national parks, museums, science centers, and more, it's hard to find a destination richer in culture, natural beauty, and activities.
