Liquid Oxygen (LOX) Technician

Why This Role Exists

Safe and reliable aviation breathing oxygen systems are critical to aircrew performance and aircraft readiness. This role exists to provide technical expertise, troubleshooting support, and training that ensures U.S. Coast Guard aircraft and bulk storage facilities maintain the highest standards of safety, compliance, and operational effectiveness.

As a Liquid Oxygen Technician, you will serve as a trusted technical resource supporting aviation life support, aviator’s breathing oxygen, and cryogenic systems across U.S. Coast Guard aircraft and bulk storage facilities. This role exists to ensure safety standards are upheld, technical data remains accurate, and the systems aircrew depend on perform exactly as expected in demanding operational environments.

This role is for someone who takes pride in precision, understands the responsibility behind aviation life support systems, and values maintaining the highest safety and compliance standards.

What You Will Do
  • Promptly respond to Technical Requests regarding liquid oxygen discrepancies affecting USCG aircraft and bulk storage facilities
  • Troubleshoot complex LOX system issues remotely and recommend corrective actions to maintenance supervisors
  • Collect, clean, reconcile, and validate oxygen system data and quality control findings to ensure compliance with established standards
  • Provide training to active duty USCG members and civilian contractors on quality control, field troubleshooting, LOX transfers, preventative maintenance, and follow-on maintenance
  • Review ongoing LOX procedures to ensure alignment with safety standards, technical data, USCG requirements, and evolving industry practices
  • Provide technical support related to aviation life support and aviator’s breathing oxygen systems, including portable cylinders, masks, emergency systems, servicing components, and aircraft interfaces
  • Travel to USCG units as needed to support inspections, training, and troubleshooting efforts
  • Assist in developing and updating USCG policies, procedures, and training syllabi related to LOX operations
  • Review and take action on USCG CG-22 submissions relating to liquid and gaseous aviation breathing oxygen systems
What We Are Looking For

Required:

  • Five or more years of experience supporting liquid and gaseous aviation breathing oxygen aircraft systems
  • Experience supporting aviation life support equipment, Aircrew Survival Equipment operations, or aviator’s breathing oxygen programs
  • Demonstrated expertise in cryogenic equipment maintenance safety, including LOX handling, servicing procedures, and contamination prevention
  • Experience interpreting oxygen quality control data and responding to product discrepancies
  • Two or more years of experience supporting LOX bulk storage and transfer operations
  • Strong understanding of aviation maintenance safety standards and military technical data
  • Experience supporting formal military training concepts, technical instruction, or maintenance guidance
  • Military or civilian training related to aircraft liquid and gaseous aviation breathing oxygen systems or cryogenic support equipment maintenance
  • Experience supporting U.S. Coast Guard or Naval aviation maintenance environments
Location
  • On-site in Elizabeth City, North Carolina - Relocation support possible.
  • Travel to USCG units may be required for inspections, training, and troubleshooting support.
