Occasional travel when necessary
The Aviation Vibration Analyst provides critical technical expertise to the U.S. Coast Guard’s Aviation Logistics Center (ALC) Vibration Program, supporting fleet-wide aircraft health, safety, and operational readiness. The role performs advanced vibration diagnostics on rotary and fixed-wing aircraft using ISO Category II (or higher) techniques, including FFT spectrum analysis, phase diagnostics, HUMS data interpretation, and Aircraft Diagnostic Vibration Management Systems (ADVMS).
The analyst identifies mechanical and electrical faults such as bearing failures, rotor issues, resonance, and gear defects, manages vibration data systems, and provides technical reports to support maintenance teams, OEMs, and engineering staff across all USCG aircraft types. The role also contributes to technical order development, dynamic testing, and participates in ground runs and flight operations to ensure aircraft safety and reliability.
You Will Do
- Initiate CG-22s, Product Quality Deficiency Report (PQDRs), regular and message TCTOs related to the ALC Vibration Program.
- Provide technical input to the Vibration Program Manager to assist all Air Stations, ALC, Headquarters Units, ATTC and applicable OEMs.
- Analyze data received from Air Stations, ALC, Headquarters Units, and ATTC for possible vibration concerns within five (5) business days of receiving data from the Government.
- Manage Helitune User database by establishing user accounts and setting up permissions within the database.
- Manage the RT-Vision database for all aircraft, gearbox and engine types. (configuration and structure).
- Use and manage the Aircraft Diagnostic Vibration Management System (ADVMS).
- Assist Vibration Program Manager in the following areas:
- Test prototype analysis equipment.
- Provide onsite vibration program technical support.
- Test vibration sensors using DI-811 or equivalent test equipment.
- Configure software and program on various vibration analysis data collection equipment.
- Develop test plans and perform data collections for unusual aircraft vibration programs.
- Provide instruction on operation and testing procedures for various types of aircraft data collection equipment.
- Provide logistics support for Government loaner equipment and accessories and coordinate repairs to fleet-wide vibration analysis equipment.
- Perform aircraft, airframe and driveline vibration analysis. Prepare summaries and reports in support of various engineering offices.
- Perform advanced level rotor track, balance and vibration analysis and propeller dynamic balance and vibration analysis on multiple airframes types.
- Develop and write complex technical orders independently including schematics, drawing and figures.
- Conduct market research for program support equipment and related maintenance services to collect and assemble information including, but not limited to, technical data packages, price, availability, quality initiatives in relation to requirements, source approval and validation process, vendor capabilities. Market research may include assisting during site surveys to verify information previously assembled.
