Nursing Assistant

Care for patients in nursing home under delegation & direction of licensed nursing staff by performing the following duties:

Essential Duties and Responsibilities in the following:

• Answers signal lights, bells, or intercom system. Assist patient with their needs.
• Assists patients to bathroom, with bedpan and urinal. Checks and provide needed care to patients who soil and/or wet themselves.
• Bathes, dresses, and undresses patients.
• Assists patients with all hygiene (i.e., mouth care, fingernails, grooming of hair, etc.)
• Gives non-systemic enemas as assigned.
• Collects specimens for laboratory test as assigned.
• Performs nursing intervention programs as assigned (i.e., range of motion, bowel and bladder training, etc.)
• Observes patients for any changes in physical or mental condition and report observations to the charge nurse.
• Serves and collects food trays and feeds patients requiring help.
• Transports patients or assists patients to walk.
• Provide fresh water in pitchers in patients room. Collect pitchers and cups for sterilization. Turns and repositions patients, alone or with assistance, to prevent skin breakdown.
• Changes bed linens, makes bed, directs visitors, and answers telephone.
• Checks and records patient health care activity as stated on assignments.
• Takes and records temperature, blood pressure, pulse and respiration rates, and food and fluid intake and output, as directed.
• Obtains, cleans disinfects, and stores supplies (i.e., bedpan, urinal, etc.) in patient rooms.
• Maintains patient areas (closets, dresser, drawers etc.) in an orderly manner.
