The Registered Nurse (RN) is responsible for performing a competent level of nursing care as demonstrated by the critical thinking model known as the nursing process. The standards of practice (assessment, diagnosis, outcomes identification, planning, implementation, coordination of care—teaching and health promotion and evaluation) along with professional performance standards (ethics, culturally congruent practice, communication, collaboration, leadership, education, evidence‑based practice, nursing research, quality, evaluation, resource utilization, and environmental health) encompass the actions and foundation of professional nursing.

The RN possesses clinical knowledge and skills to meet standards as required by specific clinical areas.

The RN performs bedside nursing care in the medical telemetry unit, applying the nursing process to assess, diagnose, plan, implement, and evaluate patient care. The RN collaborates with interdisciplinary team members, educates patients and families, and maintains high standards of safety and evidence‑based practice.

• RN Degree – ADN, BSN or MSN

• Valid RN License to practice in Virginia
• Current ACLS, BLS, NIHSS

• At least 2 years of recent bedside RN experience in telemetry
• Proficiency in reading rhythm strips (test will be given)
