Responsibilities
  • The Store Manager will manage and lead in a multiunit capacity.
  • Provide and model best-in-class guest service: promptly greet guests; respond to questions/concerns quickly and courteously; assist guests with video gaming needs; inform guests of promotions; recommend additional items as appropriate; apply all selling behaviors during every transaction and thank every guest for shopping at Game Stop; circulate throughout the store to prioritize guests over tasks.
  • Support the total shopping environment, including visual and operational elements, current sales initiatives, and guest relationships that lead to sales and repeat business.
  • Process guest purchases/returns accurately using the POS system, including making correct change, bagging merchandise, providing receipts, and ensuring high-quality guest service.
  • Respond to guest comments or questions in person or on the phone; answer calls promptly, courteously, and professionally using the store’s phone greeting.
  • Promote Game Stop’s guest benefits, such as new title reservations, trade-ins, and Pro Rewards loyalty programs.
  • Recruit, interview, hire, assess, develop, and retain high-performing associates.
  • Ensure associates complete onboarding, job training, and compliance training prior to opening or closing a shift on their own. Ensure knowledge of policies, inventory control and loss prevention practices, scam awareness, safety, financial protocol, and ethics.
  • Communicate with store associates and the District Manager to implement store initiatives; set guest service expectations and train staff in policies, procedures, practices, and guidelines. Supervise and delegate tasks to Sales Associates, Retail Keyholders, and Assistant Store Managers.
  • Schedule store associates following guidelines; account for breaks and meals; supervise staffing to maintain optimal guest service.
  • Approve payroll, manage paid time off, and ensure time edits; verify time worked and pay.
  • Provide timely recognition and feedback to associates; document performance in the HR system.
  • Keep all areas neat, clean, organized, and merchandised per guidelines; ensure store fixtures and equipment function properly.
  • Fulfill Omni-Channel orders daily.
  • Perform store inventory counts, stock/restock merchandise, and move products to ensure representation and organization on the sales floor.
  • Protect company assets through inventory control and loss prevention; inspect packages/belongings at closing or end of shift as appropriate.
  • Lead the team in meeting/exceeding sales, profit, and shrink goals; complete administrative and operational duties required for goal achievement.
  • Count, balance, and reconcile daily totals in the POS; complete closeout paperwork and bank deposits as required.
  • Verify shipments for discrepancies; conduct merchandise counts/inventories and report discrepancies to the District Manager.
  • Process defectives/ recalls and stock pulls; ensure correct labeling and packing lists.
  • Maintain associate and guest safety; address hazardous situations and report injuries per guidelines.
  • Maintain store records/files neatly; keep manuals up to date.
  • Form professional partnerships with appropriate military personnel where applicable (stores on military bases).
  • Adhere to Game Stop policies and procedures as outlined in the Associate Handbook and Code of Standards, Ethics & Conduct.
