Operations Management
New Jersey, United States
* This opportunity is presented by Shift Group on behalf of several of our partners in the commercial interiors and operations space.
About the Opportunity
We are partnering with industry-leading organizations seeking hands-on, elite Project Managers to own complex commercial projects from initial planning to final closeout. You are not just an administrator; you are a solution-focused operator who understands how field environments actually work. You will serve as the critical bridge between clients, field operations, warehouse teams, and internal sales. If you can look at a project plan, understand exactly what needs to happen in the field, identify logistical bottlenecks before they cost money, and decisively keep projects moving, this is your role.
Key Responsibilities
- Own the execution: Manage the complete lifecycle of complex commercial projects—including site setups, installations, and relocations-ensuring they finish on schedule, on budget, and within scope.
- Navigate the plans: Review and interpret architectural, space-planning, and operational drawings. Utilize project tools to coordinate material quantities against field conditions and spot discrepancies immediately.
- Command the field: Coordinate logistics between facility management (loading docks, elevators, security), field crews, and warehouse operations. Perform quality-control inspections and aggressively manage punch-list items.
- Drive client success: Act as the day-to-day contact for clients, leading kickoff meetings, site walks, and closeouts while communicating schedule changes proactively.
- Master the details: Maintain relentless accuracy over inventories, project documentation, and logistics reporting. You understand that precise documentation directly impacts project profitability.
Qualifications
- Former college, professional, or Olympic athlete, or military veteran.
- You have the experience: 3+ years of project management experience in commercial operations, facilities, construction, or logistics (or equivalent high-stakes military leadership involving complex field operations, supply chain, and troop/asset movement).
- Technical agility: You have a strong ability to read and interpret architectural or technical drawings. Familiarity with CAD or major project management software is highly preferred.
- Relentless problem solver: You can quickly assess active field conditions-whether on a site, warehouse, or loading dock—and develop practical, immediate solutions.
- You command the room: Excellent verbal and written communication skills to direct internal crews and manage external client expectations confidently.
