Picerno‑Giordano Construction / Sureplay is seeking a Field Quality Control Inspector to support active civil construction, parks, playground, surfacing, and recreation projects throughout New Jersey. This role is ideal for someone with a strong eye for detail, working knowledge of civil/site construction, and the confidence to visit job sites, review work against plans and specifications, document issues, and communicate clearly with field leadership, project managers, subcontractors, engineers, and office staff.
You will serve as an extra set of eyes in the field, helping ensure work is completed safely, accurately, and in line with project requirements before small issues become punch‑list problems or project delays.

Key Responsibilities- Conduct regular field inspections on active civil, parks, playground, surfacing, and recreation construction projects.
- Review work in progress against project plans, specifications, drawings, scopes, and site requirements.
- Monitor field crews and subcontractors for quality, safety, material use, and adherence to project expectations.
- Identify deficiencies, incomplete work, site issues, material concerns, or non‑compliant work and elevate them promptly.
- Maintain accurate inspection records, including photos, notes, daily logs, reports, and punch‑list updates.
- Communicate clearly with project managers, field leadership, subcontractors, engineers, architects, clients, and office staff regarding project progress and resolutions.
- Track field quantities, materials, site conditions, and completed work to support billing, forecasting, and project closeout.
- Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and field teams to identify and address construction, design, safety, or specification issues quickly.
- Help reduce rework and punch‑list delays by catching quality, safety, and specification issues early.
- Support coordination between the field and office to keep multiple short‑duration projects moving efficiently.
- 1–3+ years of experience in civil construction, sitework, public works, field inspection, quality control, assistant project management, or related field operations.
- Ability to read and interpret construction plans, drawings, specifications, scopes, and field documents.
- Working knowledge of civil/site construction activities such as grading, drainage, concrete, surfacing, site preparation, material sequencing, and subcontractor workflows.
- Strong attention to detail with the ability to identify field issues before they become rework or punch‑list problems.
- Comfortable visiting multiple active job sites and communicating with field crews, subcontractors, engineers, and office staff.
- Strong written documentation skills, including notes, photos, reports, and issue tracking.
- Valid driver’s license and ability to travel locally to job sites throughout New Jersey.
- Ability to work independently while keeping internal teams informed and aligned.
- OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 certification.
