Burlington County Special Services School District - Transition Campus (Ages 18-21)

Position Summary

The Burlington County Special Services School District (BCSSSD) is seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Teacher Assistant to join our Transition Campus team full-time. This campus serves students ages 18-21 who are developing essential life, vocational, and community-based skills. The ideal candidate will be passionate about supporting young adults with unique abilities and committed to fostering independence, growth, and meaningful post-secondary outcomes.

Qualifications

* High School Diploma or equivalent (required);
Associate's Degree (preferred)

* Experience working with individuals with disabilities (preferred)

* Ability to support students with significant educational, behavioral, vocational, and life-skills needs

* Willingness to work with a diverse student population

* Ability to maintain confidentiality regarding students, staff, and school matters

* Physical ability to perform duties, including frequent bending and lifting (up to 50 lbs)

Primary Responsibilities

* Support certified teachers and transition staff in implementing daily instructional, vocational, and community-based activities

* Assist students in developing independent living skills, workplace readiness, and social/communication skills

* Reinforce learning objectives across classroom, job-site, and community settings

* Prepare materials and assist with structured activities and routines

* Help ensure a safe, supportive, and respectful learning environment for all students

* Collaborate with staff to promote student progress and independence

Salary & Benefits:

Annual Salary Range: $23,454 - $30,582

Schedule:

Monday-Friday, 8:00 AM - 3:00 PM (aligned with student schedule)

Additional Information

* Must pass a criminal history background check

* Proof of U.S. citizenship or legal resident alien status required

* Must establish NJ residency within one year of hire

* Drug testing required
