Group/Head Teacher, Site Coordinator, Program Supervisor

LOCATION:

Elizabeth, NJ

The Assistant Teacher supports the instructional and supervisory responsibilities of the classroom by assisting with daily operations and student engagement. This role is integral to maintaining a safe, structured, and nurturing environment within a before- and after-school program, as well as seasonal summer programming. The Assistant Teacher works collaboratively with staff to promote student engagement, social-emotional development, and positive behavior in alignment with program expectations.

• Before Care: 7:30 AM – 8:15 AM
• After Care: 3:05 PM – 5:30 PM

• Assist in maintaining a safe, clean, and developmentally appropriate classroom environment.
• Support child engagement, classroom organization, and daily program activities.
• Provide consistent supervision to ensure the safety and well‑being of all students.
• Foster a positive and inclusive environment that promotes pro‑social behavior and student engagement.
• Communicate effectively and professionally with students, families, and staff.
• Implement behavior management strategies aligned with program philosophy.
• Maintain strict confidentiality regarding student and family information.
• Participate in required staff meetings, training, and school events.
• Complete a minimum of 12 hours of annual professional development, including required orientation training.
• Ensure compliance with all applicable regulations outlined in the New Jersey Manual of Requirements for Child Care Centers.
• Perform additional duties as assigned to support program.

• Must complete Child Abuse Record Information Background Check.
• Must complete a Criminal History Record Information Background Check.
• Must complete a Mandated 10 hour Health and Safety Training.
• Working knowledge of Microsoft Office preferred and Internet Applications.

• Pay for this role is $16–$18 per hour.
