Position Goals
  • Career and Technical Institute Instructor for Culinary Arts will report directly to the Workforce Training and Continuing Education Program Supervisor and will deliver high‑quality classroom and hands‑on laboratory instruction. Instruction is provided using an approved curriculum and industry‑relevant training materials to prepare students for entry‑level employment within the field of Culinary Arts.

Job Description
  • Plan, prepare, and deliver instruction aligned with the approved curriculum on a daily basis.
  • Develop lesson plans that support student learning outcomes and workforce readiness.
  • Organize and maintain instructional materials, tools, equipment, and supply inventories.
  • Monitor and evaluate student progress, including grading and attendance tracking.
  • Provide timely, accurate, and constructive feedback on student performance, behavior and participations.
  • Maintain current knowledge of applicable industry standards, laws, regulations, and compliance requirements, and integrate this knowledge into daily instruction.
  • Demonstrate the proper use of commercial kitchen equipment, hand tools, cooking equipment, sanitation procedures, and personal protective equipment (PPE).
  • Communicate effectively with school staff regarding student behavior and instructional progress.
  • Model professionalism, reliability, and respect to contribute to a positive school culture.
  • Prepare students for industry‑recognized certifications, including Serv Safe Food Handler and Serv Safe Manager credentials, as applicable.
Minimum Qualifications
  • 5 years of experience in the field.
  • Prior teaching experience preferred.
  • Proficient written communication skills including the ability to prepare reports, complete student evaluations, document student progress and email students and staff.
  • Proficient computer skills including use of Microsoft Office applications.
  • Strong verbal communication skills for classroom instruction and student engagement.
  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Field‑related license/certification including, but not limited to, Serv Safe certification.
  • Culinary certification or professional credentials in the hospitality industry certification, or comparable industry, military, or culinary training is preferred.
