Position: Tutoring Coordinator (Part-Time/Temporary)

The high level:

The Tutoring Coordinator Intern(TC) is a position that is part of a dynamic partnership team working to ensure that our Newark geography is positioned for success during the fall. Their role is to work closely with the partnership leadership team to implement fall tutoring, program operations, and tutor support through the fall. Reporting directly to a national manager of partnerships, the TC supports duties that are critical to the operations in our Newark tutoring.

This is an in-person role, and candidates must reside in the Greater Newark or Metropolitan New York City area with access to reliable transportation. The start date for this position is September 21st, 2026, and it concludes on December 4th, 2026.What you’ll do 70% - Lead Fall Tutoring at one of Newark fall sites

Conduct beginning and end-of-fall assessments

Lead the daily tutoring sessions by taking attendance, scheduling students, managing daily operations, tutor coaching, and program quality

Provide in person coaching and support for tutors working directly with students using the Reading Partners Connects curriculum

Check-in regularly with a member of the national Reading Partners team
20% - Community and Family Engagement Facilitate tutor orientations as needed

Facilitate family engagement workshops as needed
10% - Other Duties as Needed How you’ll do it:

Relationship Management & Communication Forge and maintain positive relationships with stakeholders in building a community of literacy. Cultivate strong internal relationships with peers and support managers as needed. Demonstrate an ability to work collaboratively as an ambassador of Reading Partners externally.

Possess a strong aptitude for effective communication with program team members and other Reading Partners staff. Be able to set up strong systems for communication.

Project Management:

Demonstrate an ability to effectively manage time, balance multiple competing priorities at once, and, above all, and remain adaptable, flexible, and positive while navigating challenges. Anticipate challenges and/or questions, and proactively act to address them. Understand larger strategic priorities and make measurable progress against these larger goals.

Demonstrate a strong detail orientation, a strong drive for accuracy, and the ability to manage projects independently and as part of a team. Execute all work in a data-driven manner. Demonstrate the ability to prioritize and problem-solve.

Innovative Thinking:

Demonstrate an ability to create processes and systems to streamline internal operations. Demonstrate a high level of comfort with ambiguity and an ability to create order. Demonstrate an aptitude for framing problems as opportunities, and always pushing to further streamline.

What we offer:

This is a part-time, non-exempt, and hourly position. Part-Time TCs work an average of 20 hours per week. The compensation range for this position is $19.00 - $21.19 per hour.
