Rockaway Township is Currently Seeking a Full-Time Communications Officer - This individual, under direction, will receive calls either via radio or telephone, operate data processing and computer-oriented equipment to receive, retrieve, enter, and transmit information to local, state, and out-of-state law enforcement and/or other emergency service agencies.
The ideal candidate will remain calm under pressure, be attentive to details, have good computer, verbal, and written skills; will be able to perform repetitive, clerical operations; maintain confidentiality of information; and able to learn to utilize various types of electronic and/or manual recording and information systems.
Applicants will be required to possess a High School Diploma or equivalent, a driver’s license valid in New Jersey and be CPR certified. At least one year of dispatching experience is desired. If not already received, the selected candidate will obtain their EMD and Basic Telecommunication certificate within 1 year of employment and maintain them in good standing.
