The compensation offered to the candidate selected for the position will depend on several factors, including the candidate's educational background, skills and professional experience.

Ministry as Chaplain in a hospital setting or equivalent. Interpersonal relationships, mediator, general communication skills, counseling skills, crisis management skills, team player.

As Chaplain, a typical day might include the following:
  • Visitings new Catholic patients within 24 hours of admission
  • Performing initial assessment of patients to ascertain their spiritual and religious needs
  • Responds to patients' spiritual needs as soon as possible and/or make appropriate referrals
  • Following up visits with patients as needed and/or desired by patients
  • Documents effectively in a timely manner
  • Participating in problem solving and decision-making processes which enhance patient care in collaboration with other care givers
  • Acting as mediator and/or advocate for the patient, family and/or domestic partner
  • Responding to crisis situations as appropriate
  • Responding to consultations regarding Advance Directives
  • Demonstrating a willingness to be flexible with unplanned assignments as necessary
  • Promoting a compassionate and supportive environment conducive to healing
  • Exhibits Team spirit
  • Presiding at the Eucharistic Liturgy as assigned
  • Administrating the Sacrament of the Eucharist to patients who desire to receive the Eucharist
  • Anointing of the Sick, Sacrament of Reconciliation, Sacrament of the Eucharist
  • Responding to specific needs of the units to which the chaplain is assigned

To be considered for this position, candidates must have a high school diploma or equivalent. Strong background in Theology/Spirituality with hospital and parish ministry experience preferred. Roman Catholic Priest or Sister in good standing preferred. Clinical Pastoral Education (CPE) preferred. Part Time from 8:00am-4:00pm.
